Design-for-recycling is soon no longer optional for packaging — it is becoming a regulatory requirement through PPWR and already is a market expectation.

This training is focused on flexible plastic packaging and explains the different components and constituents typically found in this packaging format. It provides a foundational understanding of how this type of packaging is made and which materials fulfil which function. It is intended to help the user fully understand all the technical detail of the requirements provided in design-for-recycling guidance for flexible plastic packaging.

  • The nomenclature of the different parts of flexible plastic packaging in design-for-recycling guidelines

  • Typical processing methods: blown film, cast film and their relationship to recyclability testing
